Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the Butare Cathedral, head north on Avenue de la Révolution. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Avenue du 1er Novembre. Turn right onto Avenue du 1er Novembre and walk for approximately 300 meters. You will notice a sign for the Arboretum of Ruhande on your left. Follow the path leading into the arboretum.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Butare. Start at the central market (Marché de Butare) and head south on Avenue de la Révolution for about 1.2 kilometers. Turn left onto Avenue du 1er Novembre and cycle for another 500 meters. Look for the entrance to the Arboretum of Ruhande on your left side. The cycling route is mostly flat and easy to navigate.

From the main bus station in Butare, take a local moto-taxi (motorcycle taxi) heading towards the Arboretum of Ruhande. You can negotiate the fare, which should be around 1,000 RWF.
