Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in the center of Butare, start at the Butare Cathedral, which is a well-known landmark. From the cathedral, head southeast on Avenue de l'Industrie. Walk straight for about 500 meters until you reach a roundabout. Take the first exit onto Avenue du Président. Continue straight for another 600 meters until you reach the University of Rwanda Huye Campus, which will be on your left. Light House Hotel is located just next to the university, at Mukoni Tumba. You should see the hotel sign as you approach.

• Bicycle

  Begin your journey at the main market in Butare, known as 'Mbare Market.' From the market, cycle southeast along Avenue de l'Industrie for approximately 800 meters. Once you reach the roundabout, take the first exit onto Avenue du Président. Continue to cycle straight for about 600 meters until you arrive at the University of Rwanda Huye Campus on your left. Light House Hotel is located adjacent to the university at Mukoni Tumba, identifiable by its signage.

• Motorcycle Taxi (Bike Taxi)

  To reach Light House Hotel using a motorcycle taxi, find a bike taxi at any common pick-up spot, like near the cultural center or the Butare Cathedral. Inform the driver you want to go to Light House Hotel near the University of Rwanda. The ride will take around 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will know the route; you simply need to indicate that you want to go to Mukoni Tumba, close to the university.
