Getting There

  • Car

    From Cyangugu, head northeast on the main road (RN1) towards Kibuye. The total distance to Kibuye is approximately 70 kilometers, which should take about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Follow the signs for Kibuye, and once you arrive in Kibuye, look for the signs towards the Congo Nile Trail. The trailhead is located at W8QX+984, Kibuye. Make sure to have a GPS or a map app handy for precise navigation.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach the Congo Nile Trail from Cyangugu via public transport, take a 'Moto' (motorcycle taxi) or a bus from Cyangugu to Kibuye. Buses leave regularly from the main bus station in Cyangugu and the fare is typically around 1,000 Rwandan Francs. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Kibuye, you can take another 'Moto' to the trailhead at W8QX+984 or walk, which is about a 15-20 minute walk.
