Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from central Kigali, head towards Avenue du Commerce. Walk along the avenue until you reach the intersection with Rue de la Révolution. Turn left onto Rue de la Révolution and continue until you reach the Nyabugogo Bus Station. This station is a major transport hub in Kigali. From Nyabugogo, look for a bus heading to Nyanza, which is a suburb of Kigali. The ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Nyanza, ask locals for directions to the Nyanza Genocide Memorial. It is located at X3XV+42J, which is a short walk from the bus drop-off point.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  Begin your journey at Amahoro Stadium, a well-known landmark in Kigali. From Amahoro Stadium, walk to the nearest bus stop and catch a bus heading towards Nyabugogo Bus Station. Once you arrive at Nyabugogo, transfer to a bus that goes to Nyanza. Make sure to confirm with the driver or conductor that the bus stops at Nyanza Genocide Memorial or ask fellow passengers. The travel time will be around 45 minutes to 1 hour. When you arrive in Nyanza, follow the signs or ask for directions to the memorial, which is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local rental shop in central Kigali. Start your route by heading south on Avenue du Commerce until you reach the intersection with Rue de la Révolution. Turn left and continue cycling until you reach Nyabugogo Bus Station. From there, follow the main road south towards Nyanza. The ride can take approximately 1 hour, depending on your cycling speed. Once you get to Nyanza, you can park your bike and walk to the Nyanza Genocide Memorial, which is just a short distance from where you will arrive.
