Car
If you're driving from Musanze Caves, head south on the main road towards the town center. After about 2 km, turn left onto Unnamed Road (CJ5M+H29). Continue on this road for approximately 3 km. As you drive, look for signs indicating Mt Rugarika. The road may become less developed, but follow it until you reach the foot of the mountain where parking is available.
Public Transportation
From Musanze Caves, take a moto-taxi or a local bus towards Musanze town center. Once in town, ask the driver to drop you off at the bus station. From there, find a local bus heading towards Colline Nyarutembe. Inform the bus conductor that you wish to get off at the nearest stop to Mt Rugarika. Once you arrive, it may be necessary to walk about 1 km towards the mountain. You can also hire a moto-taxi for this last leg of the journey, which should cost around 1,000 RWF.
Walking
If you're already in the vicinity of the Unnamed Road (CJ5M+H29) near Musanze Caves, you can walk towards Mt Rugarika. The walk is approximately 4 km and will take about an hour. Head to the south on the main road, then turn onto Unnamed Road. Be sure to bring water and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain may vary.
