Car
If you are driving from Musanze, take the RN4 road heading south towards Kigali. After approximately 20 km, look for signs to Ruhengeri. Continue on this road until you reach the junction near the town of Ruhengeri. Take a left at the junction onto the road that leads towards the Crater. After about 10 km, you will arrive at Cratere Ruhara. Ensure to have a map or GPS as some local roads may not be well marked.

From Musanze, take a bus heading to Ruhengeri. The bus station is located in the center of Musanze. Once you arrive in Ruhengeri, you can find local motorbike taxis (moto) or shared taxis that go to Cratere Ruhara. Negotiate the fare with the moto driver, which typically ranges from 1,000 to 3,000 RWF, depending on the distance.

For those who enjoy hiking, you can walk from Ruhengeri to Cratere Ruhara once you get off the bus. It's about a 10 km walk and will take approximately 2-3 hours.
