Car
If you are traveling by car within Northern Province, start your journey from Musanze. Take the main road (Route Nationale 4) heading towards Ruhengeri. After approximately 35 kilometers, keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Rwata. Turn left onto a smaller road that leads directly to Rwata. The wetland area is about 10 kilometers from this turnoff. Make sure to drive carefully as the road may be narrow and winding.

Public Transportation
To reach Rwata by public transport from Musanze, you will first need to take a bus or a shared taxi to Ruhengeri. Once in Ruhengeri, look for a local bus or mototaxi heading towards Rwata. The mototaxi ride will take you closer to the wetland area. Expect to pay approximately 1,000 RWF for the bus fare and around 2,000 RWF for the mototaxi. Be sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to Rwata.

If you are already in the vicinity of Rwata, you may choose to walk to the wetland. From the nearest bus stop, follow the signs or ask locals for directions. The wetland is about a 30-minute walk from the main road, and the path is generally flat.
