Walking
From the center of Rubavu town, head south towards Avenue de la Victoire. Continue along this road for approximately 1 km until you reach the intersection with Rue de l'Unité. Turn left onto Rue de l'Unité and walk straight for about 500 meters until you see the sign for the Red Rocks Initiative on your right. This is a good place to stop for information about guided hikes. After gathering information, continue along the same road until you reach the end of the street, where you will find a trail leading towards Mt Rugarika.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Rubavu. Start from the main square and head towards Avenue de la Victoire, cycling south. After about 1 km, turn left onto Rue de l'Unité. Continue riding for another 500 meters, and you will see the Red Rocks Initiative office on your right. It’s recommended to stop here for guidance and potential group hikes. After your visit, continue straight until you reach the trailhead leading to Mt Rugarika.

Local Transport (Motorcycle Taxi)
To reach Mt Rugarika more quickly, you can take a motorcycle taxi (known locally as 'moto'). From any location in Rubavu, simply flag down a moto and instruct the driver to take you to the Red Rocks Initiative office. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the office, you can either join a group for a hike or get directions for the trail leading to Mt Rugarika.
