Walking
From the center of Ruhengeri, head west on Avenue de la Revolution towards Avenue du 1er Novembre. Continue straight for about 300 meters until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Route Nationale 4 (RN4) heading north. Follow RN4 for approximately 5 kilometers. You will see signs for Lake Ruhondo. As you approach the lake area, there may be smaller roads leading directly to the lakeshore. Follow these signs and paths to reach Lake Ruhondo.

Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Ruhengeri. Start at the main market square and head towards Avenue de la Revolution, cycling west. Continue past the roundabout and take Route Nationale 4 (RN4) heading north. Cycle along RN4 for about 5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views. Look for signs for Lake Ruhondo, and take the smaller roads leading to the lake. The ride should take around 30-40 minutes depending on your speed.

Motorbike Taxi (Moto Taxi)
Find a moto taxi in the central plaza of Ruhengeri. Tell the driver you want to go to Lake Ruhondo. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes. The driver will take you along Route Nationale 4 (RN4) heading north. You can enjoy the views while the driver navigates. Be sure to have cash ready for the fare; it typically ranges between 2000-3000 Rwandan Francs, depending on negotiation.
