Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Ruhengeri, start at the Ruhengeri Bus Station, which is a central point for many travelers. Head southwest on Avenue du Commerce towards Avenue de la Paix. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the intersection near the local market. At this intersection, turn left onto Avenue du 1er Novembre. Follow this road for approximately 1.5 kilometers, passing by local shops and eateries. You will see a sign for Nyakinama on your right. After about 300 meters, take a right turn onto a smaller road that leads towards Nyakinama. Continue down this road for about 2 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Buhanga Eco-Park, which will be marked by a sign.

  • Bicycle

    If you're cycling, start from the center of Ruhengeri and head towards the Ruhengeri Bus Station. From there, take Avenue du Commerce southwest for about 1 kilometer. At the intersection near the local market, turn left onto Avenue du 1er Novembre. Continue straight for another 1.5 kilometers. Look for the sign for Nyakinama and take a right turn. Cycle along this road for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Buhanga Eco-Park. The park entrance is well marked, and you can park your bicycle there.

  • Motorbike taxi (Motos)

    To reach Buhanga Eco-Park via a motorbike taxi, find a Moto parking area in the center of Ruhengeri, such as near the Ruhengeri Bus Station. Tell the driver you want to go to Buhanga Eco-Park (pronounce it as 'Buhanga Eco-Park' and 'Nyakinama' for clarity). The ride will take around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you along Avenue de la Paix and then turn onto the road towards Nyakinama. Make sure to confirm the ride price before starting your journey.
