Getting There

Walking
From the center of Ruhengeri, head east on Avenue du Lac towards the Roundabout. Continue straight through the roundabout, keeping an eye out for signs directing to Lake Ruhondo. After approximately 1.5 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left path, which is the main road heading towards the lake. After about 2 kilometers, you will see a sign for Lake Ruhondo on your right. Follow the path leading downhill to the lake, which is about 500 meters away.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Ruhengeri. Start at the town center and cycle east on Avenue du Lac. After about 1.5 kilometers, you’ll reach the first roundabout. Go straight through the roundabout and continue on the main road. At the fork after 2 kilometers, take the left path. In about 2 kilometers, watch for the sign for Lake Ruhondo on your right. Follow the path leading downhill for approximately 500 meters to reach the lake.

Motorbike Taxi (Moto)
Catch a motorbike taxi (moto) from a designated station in Ruhengeri. Inform the driver you want to go to Lake Ruhondo. The driver will take you east on Avenue du Lac. You will pass through the roundabout and continue straight. After about 2.5 kilometers, the driver will take the left fork in the road. After about 1.5 kilometers, the driver will stop at the sign for Lake Ruhondo. From there, you can walk down to the lake, which is about 500 meters.
