Getting There

  • Car

    From Young Island, head towards the main road leading to Kingstown. Drive along the coast for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the Windward Highway (also known as the main road towards the north). Continue driving for approximately 5 km (3 miles) until you see signs for Clare Valley. Turn left into Clare Valley Road. Follow this road for about 2 km (1.2 miles). Fort Charlotte will be on your left, located at the coordinates 5Q55+65C, Clare Valley. There is usually no entry fee to visit Fort Charlotte, but check for any special events that might incur a cost.

  • Public Transportation

    From Young Island, walk to the nearest bus stop on the main road. Take a public minibus heading towards Kingstown. The fare is approximately 2-3 EC dollars. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Clare Valley. After about 15-20 minutes, the driver will drop you off near the entrance to Clare Valley Road. From there, you’ll need to walk approximately 2 km (1.2 miles) up Clare Valley Road to reach Fort Charlotte. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the walk may involve some inclines.
