Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
From Monte Marino, start by heading southwest on the main road (SS72) towards San Marino. Continue for about 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance to San Marino. Look for signs indicating 'Centro Storico' (Historic Centre) as you approach the city. Once in San Marino, follow the signs to the Funivia (cable car) station located at Piazzale della Libertà. Park your car at one of the nearby parking lots, which may incur a fee of around €2-€5 per hour. Take the cable car to the top of Monte Titano, where you can enjoy panoramic views and explore the surrounding area.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Monte Marino to the nearest bus stop that connects to San Marino. You may need to check the local bus schedule for the best route, but typically you will take a bus to Serravalle and then transfer to a bus heading directly to San Marino city. The total travel time can take about 30-45 minutes, depending on the connections. Once you arrive in San Marino, head towards the Funivia (cable car) station at Piazzale della Libertà. Purchase a ticket for the cable car, which costs around €4 for a round trip, and enjoy the scenic ride up to Monte Titano.
Walking
For those who enjoy walking and are up for a hike, it is possible to walk from the base of Monte Marino to Monte Titano. Follow the marked hiking trails that lead towards San Marino, taking in the beautiful views along the way. The hike can take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you reach the top, you will have access to Monte Titano and can explore the area. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the trails can be steep and require a moderate level of fitness.
