Tornik: The Majestic Peak of Dobroselica

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city, Niš. Take the A1 highway towards Pirot. After approximately 50 kilometers, exit onto the local road towards Stara Planina. Continue on this road for about 30 kilometers until you reach the village of Dobroselica. Follow the signs for Tornik, which is well-marked. The drive will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic conditions.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Niš to Pirot. Buses run frequently, and the journey takes about 1 hour. Once in Pirot, transfer to a local bus that heads towards Dobroselica. This service may not run as frequently, so check the local schedule in advance. After arriving in Dobroselica, you can either walk or arrange for a taxi to take you to Tornik, which is approximately 5 kilometers away. Taxi fares should be around 500-700 RSD (Serbian dinars).

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Dobroselica to Tornik. Taxis are available in the village, and the fare should be approximately 500-700 RSD for the short trip. Ensure to negotiate the fare before getting in, and confirm that the taxi is licensed.

• Hiking

  For adventurous travelers, consider hiking to Tornik if you are already in the Stara Planina area. There are marked hiking trails from several points in Dobroselica. The hike is moderate and takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring sufficient water and snacks for the journey.
