Baw Baw Beach: A Serene Coastal Retreat

Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Port Loko, head south towards the main road. You will see signs directing towards Sussex. Follow the road for approximately 4 kilometers. Keep an eye out for local landmarks such as the Port Loko Market, which you can use as a reference point. After passing the market, continue straight until you reach the junction where the road splits. Take the left fork towards Sussex. Walk for another 3 kilometers until you reach a small village. From there, ask locals for directions to Baw Baw Beach, as they can guide you through the last part of the journey, which is approximately 1 kilometer from the village.

• Bicycle

  Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Port Loko. Begin at the main square and cycle south towards Sussex. Follow the same route as described for walking. The journey is about 8 kilometers in total and is relatively flat, making it easy to bike. As you approach the village before Baw Baw Beach, be cautious of pedestrians and local traffic. Inquire with locals about the final stretch to ensure you're headed in the right direction.

• Motorbike Taxi (Okada)

  Locate a motorbike taxi stand in the center of Port Loko. Negotiate a fare to Baw Baw Beach, ensuring the driver knows you want to go to Sussex. The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the junction leading to Sussex. From there, you can either walk or ask for further assistance from locals to guide you the remaining distance to the beach.
