If you are driving, start from the center of Philipsburg. Head west on Walter Nisbeth Road (also known as Front Street). Continue along this road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection at the roundabout near the Great Bay Beach. Take the second exit at the roundabout to stay on Walter Nisbeth Road. After about 500 meters, you will see the entrance to St. Maarten on your right. There is ample parking available. Please note that parking may incur a fee, typically around $5 to $10 depending on the time of year and location.
Public Transportation
To reach St. Maarten via public transportation, locate the nearest bus stop in Philipsburg, usually found along Walter Nisbeth Road. Look for local minivans or buses labeled with destinations towards Little Bay or Great Bay. Board the bus (usually costing around $2 to $3 per person) and inform the driver you are heading to St. Maarten. The bus ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes. Disembark at the stop closest to St. Maarten, and walk a short distance to the entrance.
Walking
For those staying near the beach area or downtown Philipsburg, walking to St. Maarten can be a pleasant experience. Start from the main waterfront area and walk west along the beach promenade. Follow the shoreline for about 1 kilometer until you reach the entrance to St. Maarten. This route offers beautiful views of the coastline and is pedestrian-friendly. It should take approximately 15-20 minutes on foot.
