Travel Guide to Bystrianska Cave

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Banská Bystrica, take the E572 road towards Brezno. After approximately 40 kilometers, follow the signs for Brezno and continue on the main road. As you approach Brezno, keep an eye out for signposts directing you to Bystrianska Cave. The cave is located about 7 kilometers from the center of Brezno. Once you arrive at the cave, there is a parking area available for visitors, but it may incur a small parking fee. Make sure to check the opening hours before your visit.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Banská Bystrica to Brezno. Buses run regularly from the main bus station in Banská Bystrica to Brezno and the journey takes about 50 minutes. Once you arrive at the Brezno bus station, you can take a local taxi or check for local bus services that run towards Bystrianska Cave, which is about 7 kilometers away. If you choose a taxi, it should cost approximately €10-€15 for the short ride to the cave.

• Walking

  If you find yourself in Brezno and prefer to walk, you can hike from the town center to Bystrianska Cave. The walk is approximately 7 kilometers and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow the main road out of Brezno towards the cave, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the trail can be steep in some areas.
