Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, your journey to Roth Gorge should start on the main road E50. From any location in Slovak Ore Mountains, navigate towards the town of Stratená, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the heart of the park. Once you reach Stratená, look for signs directing you to Slovak Paradise National Park. Follow these signs until you reach the parking area near Roth Gorge (Velký Sokol) located at 049 71 Stratená. Be prepared to pay a small parking fee, usually around 3-5 EUR, depending on the duration of your stay.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus to the town of Stratená from nearby towns such as Prešov or Košice. Buses run regularly, and you can check schedules at local bus stations or online. Once you arrive in Stratená, you may either walk to Roth Gorge, which is about a 30-minute hike, or you can take a local taxi if you prefer a quicker option. Taxi fares within the town are generally reasonable, around 5-10 EUR. Make sure to ask your driver to take you to the entrance of Roth Gorge directly.

• Hiking

  If you are already in Slovak Paradise National Park, and particularly if you are staying at nearby accommodations, you may opt to hike to Roth Gorge. Follow the marked trails starting from either Stratená or from nearby trailheads. The trails are well-maintained and offer beautiful views of the surrounding nature. The hike can take approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace, so ensure you have proper footwear and water. No additional costs are incurred other than any fees for entering the park, which are typically around 2-4 EUR.
