Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the central square of Nova Gorica, Trg Edvarda Kardelja. Head east towards the main road, Gregorčičeva ulica. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Ulica Tolminskih Puntarjev. Turn left onto Ulica Tolminskih Puntarjev and walk for about 10 minutes until you reach the bus station, Avtobusna postaja Nova Gorica. From there, take the bus towards Gorizia and get off at the stop 'Gorizia - Stazione FS'.

    Once you arrive at Gorizia - Stazione FS, exit the train station and head towards the main street, Corso Italia. Walk straight along Corso Italia for approximately 1 km until you reach the intersection with Via della Storia. Turn right onto Via della Storia. After about 500 meters, you will see signs for Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta. Continue straight, and the basilica will be on your left, located in Piazza Capitolo.

    If you prefer to walk the entire way, from Trg Edvarda Kardelja in Nova Gorica, head southeast towards the border crossing at the end of the street. Cross the border into Italy at the pedestrian crossing. Once in Italy, follow the signs towards Aquileia, which is about a 5 km walk.
