Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car from Sava to Ljubljana Castle, start by heading towards the A1 motorway. Follow signs for Ljubljana. Once you reach Ljubljana, take the exit toward the city center (center Ljubljane). Continue on Trg Osvobodilne Fronte until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Erjavčeva Cesta, and follow the signs to Ljubljana Castle. There is a parking area near the castle, but note that parking may incur a fee.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, begin by taking a local bus from Sava to Ljubljana's main bus station (Avtobusna postaja Ljubljana). Buses run frequently, and tickets can be purchased from the driver or at kiosks. Once at the bus station, you can either walk or take the funicular railway to Ljubljana Castle. To walk, head towards the old town, following signs to the castle. The funicular station is located nearby, and the ride offers a scenic view of the city; tickets for the funicular can be purchased at the station.

• Walking from the City Center

  If you are already in the city center of Ljubljana, the castle is within walking distance. From Prešeren Square, head towards the river and cross the Triple Bridge. Continue straight on Gornji trg, and follow the signs leading to Ljubljana Castle. The walk takes approximately 20-30 minutes, and the path is well-marked. Be prepared for a steep uphill walk, or opt for the funicular if you prefer a more leisurely ascent.
