Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Bloemfontein city center, head towards the Nelson Mandela Square located on First Avenue. From there, walk towards the intersection with Aliwal Street. Turn right onto Aliwal Street and continue straight. You will pass several shops and cafes. Keep walking until you reach the end of Aliwal Street, where it intersects with St. Andrew’s Street. Turn left onto St. Andrew’s Street and continue until you reach the intersection with Naval Hill Road. Turn right onto Naval Hill Road, and follow the road as it ascends. As you reach the top of Naval Hill, you will see the Nelson Mandela Statue prominently displayed. The statue is located in a park area, which is a great spot for photographs.

• Public Transport - Bus

  From the Bloemfontein Bus Terminal, take a bus heading towards Naval Hill. Buses are frequent, so check the schedule upon your arrival at the terminal. Once you board the bus, inform the driver that you want to get off at Naval Hill. The bus will take you directly to the area near the statue. After disembarking, follow the signs to the Nelson Mandela Statue, which is a short walk from the bus stop.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing

  You can easily find a taxi or use a ride-sharing app in Bloemfontein. Simply request a ride to 'Naval Hill, Bloemfontein, 9301'. The driver should be familiar with the location. Upon arriving at Naval Hill, you will be dropped off near the entrance to the park where the statue is located. From there, a short walk will take you directly to the Nelson Mandela Statue.
