Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by heading towards Hogsback. From East London, take the N2 highway north. After approximately 60 km, turn off onto the R346 towards Hogsback. Follow the R346 for about 25 km until you reach Hogsback village. Upon entering Hogsback, look for signs directing you to the 39 Steps Waterfall. You may need to park your car at the designated parking area in Hogsback and then proceed on foot to the waterfall.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from East London to Hogsback. Buses are available at the East London Bus Terminal. The journey typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Hogsback, you can either walk to 39 Steps Waterfall, which is about a 30-minute hike from the village center, or you can hire a local taxi or shuttle service to take you directly to the waterfall.

• Walking

  If you’ve parked your car or taken a taxi into Hogsback, the hike to the 39 Steps Waterfall is a scenic walk. From the center of Hogsback, head towards the local trail signs. The path to the waterfall is approximately 2 km and well-marked. It typically takes about 30 minutes to hike, but be prepared for some uneven terrain. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
