Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to Two River Trail, start your journey from Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown). Take the N2 highway towards Port Elizabeth. After approximately 30 km, take the exit toward the R67 road. Continue on the R67 until you see signs for Two River Trail. The trail entrance is located just outside the town, about 5 km from the R67 turn-off. There is no parking fee at the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Two River Trail via public transport, take a bus from the nearest major city, such as Port Elizabeth, to Makhanda. Once in Makhanda, you can use a local taxi service (minibus taxis) to reach the trail. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to Two River Trail, which is about 5 km from the town center. Be prepared for a short walk from the drop-off point to the trail entrance. Ensure you have enough cash for the taxi fare, as it may vary depending on your starting point.

• Hiking

  Once you arrive at the Two River Trail entrance, you can start your hike. The trail is well-marked and offers various routes for different skill levels. Remember to carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the trail. The best time to hike is early in the morning or late afternoon, especially in summer, to avoid the heat.
