Getting There

• Public Bus

  From the city center of Port Elizabeth, head to the nearest bus station. Look for the bus route that goes to Uitenhage. You can take the bus number 12 or 13 towards Uitenhage. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Uitenhage, disembark at the Uitenhage Bus Station. From there, you will need to take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach The Island Nature Reserve, which is about a 15-minute drive. Inform the driver to take you to Seaview Road, Uitenhage Farms.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Port Elizabeth. Start your journey from the city center and head towards the N2 highway. You will need to follow the signs toward Uitenhage. It's approximately a 20 km ride. Once you reach Uitenhage, make your way to Seaview Road. The final stretch will take you through rural roads, so be cautious of traffic. The journey could take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your cycling speed.

• Walking

  Walking to The Island Nature Reserve is quite a long trek. From the center of Port Elizabeth, you will walk towards the N2 highway. Follow the pedestrian paths towards Uitenhage, which is about 20 km away. This will take several hours, so ensure you have enough time and water. As you approach Uitenhage, make your way to Seaview Road. Note that walking this distance may not be ideal, and it's advisable to consider public transport for convenience.
