Car
From your location in Royal Natal National Park, head southwest on the R74 towards the town of Oliviershoek. Continue on R74 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with the N3 highway. Merge onto the N3 towards Harrismith. After approximately 40 kilometers, take the exit towards the R712. Follow the R712 for about 15 kilometers, and you will see signs directing you to Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve. The entrance is located near Sterkfonten resort.

To reach Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve using public transportation, first, take a taxi or shuttle service from Royal Natal National Park to Harrismith. This ride may cost around ZAR 150-200 per person and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Harrismith, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. Be sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it should not exceed ZAR 300-400 for a round trip.
