If you are driving from the Sunshine Coast area, start by heading towards the N2 highway. Follow the N2 in the direction of Grahamstown. After approximately 120 kilometers, take the exit towards the R63 toward Graaff-Reinet. Continue on the R63 until you reach Graaff-Reinet, which is around 50 kilometers away. Once in Graaff-Reinet, follow the signs to the Valley of Desolation, which is located about 15 kilometers from the town center. The entrance to the valley is well marked. Note that there is a small entrance fee of approximately R20 per vehicle.
