Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey in Cape Town. Take the N1 highway towards Paarl. Continue on the N1 until you reach the R60 exit towards Robertson. Follow the R60, which will take you through beautiful countryside scenery. When you reach Swellendam, take the R324 towards the coast. This will lead you directly to the town of Arniston. Once you arrive in Arniston, navigate to Wege Street, where the Ancient Fish Traps are located. There is limited parking available near the site, so plan accordingly.

Public Transportation
For travelers using public transportation, take a Greyhound or Intercape bus from Cape Town to Swellendam. The journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Once in Swellendam, you can catch a local taxi or a shuttle service to Arniston. The taxi ride will take about 30 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Wege Street, which is where the Ancient Fish Traps are located. Be prepared for some walking from the drop-off point to the actual site.
