Getting There

  • Bicycle

    If you are starting from Coligny Beach Park, rent a bicycle and head northwest on Coligny Circle. Continue straight onto South Forest Beach Drive and follow it until you reach Pope Avenue. Turn left onto Pope Avenue and continue until you reach the intersection with William Hilton Parkway (US-278). Here, turn right onto US-278 and follow the bike lane. After about 4 miles, merge onto SC-170 and follow the signs for Savannah. After crossing the bridge into Savannah, merge onto Abercorn Street, and then take a left onto E Harris Street. The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist will be on your right.

    Board the Palmetto Breeze Transit bus at the nearest stop to your location on Hilton Head Island. You will want to take the Route 1 bus towards the Island's southern end. Ride until you reach the stop at the Hilton Head Island Gateway, where you will need to transfer to Route 3 towards Savannah. After approximately 30 minutes on Route 3, get off at the stop near Abercorn and E Harris Streets. Walk east on E Harris Street for about 5 minutes, and the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist will be ahead on your right.

    If you are at the Harbour Town Lighthouse, start by walking northwest on Lighthouse Lane towards Baynard Cove Road. Turn left and continue until you reach the intersection with Greenwood Drive. Turn right onto Greenwood Drive, and follow it until you reach Pope Avenue. Turn left onto Pope Avenue and continue straight until you reach US-278. Cross the highway at the designated pedestrian crossing, and proceed to follow the signs for SC-170 towards Savannah. Once you cross into Savannah, continue on Abercorn Street and take a left onto E Harris Street. The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist will be on your right.
