Getting There

Car
Starting from the Needles Highway, head south towards Custer, SD. Continue driving for approximately 2.5 miles until you reach the intersection with SD-87. Turn left onto SD-87. After about 3.5 miles, you will see signs for Custer State Park. Continue on SD-87 for another 1.5 miles and then turn right onto Wildlife Loop Road. Follow Wildlife Loop Road for about 2 miles until you see Turtle Rock on your left. There’s a small parking area where you can pull off and enjoy the view.

If you are using public transportation, take the local shuttle service from Custer city center which operates to various points in Custer State Park. You will want to get off at the stop nearest to Wildlife Loop Road. From there, the Turtle Rock is approximately a 30-minute walk. Follow the signs towards Wildlife Loop Road and head north until you reach the rock formation, which will be on your left.
