From Pine Ridge, start by heading northeast on SD-18 E. Continue for approximately 8 miles until you reach the junction with US-18. Turn left onto US-18 N and continue for about 12 miles. Next, merge onto I-90 W toward Rapid City. After traveling about 20 miles, take exit 61 for SD-44 W toward Pine Ridge/Badlands. Continue on SD-44 W for about 30 miles until you reach the intersection with US-16 Scenic. Turn left onto US-16 Scenic. The Scovel Johnson Tunnel will be just a short drive ahead on the right.
