If you are driving, the Cañón del Sil is located approximately 30 kilometers from the town of Monforte de Lemos. From Monforte, take the LU-903 road heading northeast. After about 15 kilometers, turn left onto the LU-651 road. Continue for another 10 kilometers, and you will reach the viewpoint of Cañón del Sil. Be sure to follow the signs for 'Cañón del Sil' as you approach. There is typically no parking fee, but be mindful of any local regulations regarding parking.
Public Transportation
To reach Cañón del Sil by public transportation, you can take a train from Santiago de Compostela to Monforte de Lemos. The train journey takes about 2 hours. Upon arriving in Monforte, you can catch a local bus to Sober, which is the nearest town to the canyon. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once in Sober, you can either walk to the Cañón del Sil (approximately 6 kilometers, around 1.5 hours’ walk) or consider taking a taxi to the viewpoint for a more direct route.
