At the plaza, take the exit towards Calle Granada. Continue walking straight until you reach Plaza de la Merced. Here, you will find the famous statue of Picasso. From Plaza de la Merced, walk towards Calle Alcazabilla, which will lead you directly to the Alcazaba. The entrance is located at C/ Alcazabilla, 2. This walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes.

If you prefer taking public transport, you can catch a bus from various parts of Málaga. Look for bus lines 1, 3, or 11 which all have stops near the Alcazaba. Get off at the stop 'Alameda Principal - Puerta del Mar'. From there, walk towards the east along Avenida de Andalucía, and turn left onto Calle Alcazabilla. The Alcazaba will be on your right.
