Getting There

• Bus

  From the center of Santander, head to the Estación de Autobuses (bus station) located at Calle Castilla. Take bus line 12 towards 'San Román de la Llanilla'. The journey will take approximately 20 minutes. Get off at the 'C. el Somo' stop, which is the closest to the Ermita de la Virgen del Mar. From the bus stop, walk approximately 500 meters east along C. el Somo, and you will see the Ermita on your left.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk from the city center, start at the Plaza de Pombo. Head southeast on Calle del Sol, then take a left onto Calle de la Reina. Continue until you reach the intersection with Avenida de la Libertad. Turn right and walk straight until you reach the bus station. From there, take the bus as detailed above, or walk along Avenida de la Libertad until you see signs leading to San Román de la Llanilla. It’s about a 1.5-hour walk, so wear comfortable shoes.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Santander. Simply tell the driver to take you to 'Ermita de la Virgen del Mar, C. el Somo, 60, San Román de la Llanilla'. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.
