Car
If you are driving from the main beach area of Arugam Bay, head northeast on the A4 road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection at the Arugam Bay bridge. Turn left onto the road leading towards Pottuvil Point. Stay on this road for about 2 kilometers. Look for signs indicating 'Elephant Rock' and follow the dirt road leading towards it. There is limited parking available near the rock. Alternatively, you can use Google Maps to navigate directly to the coordinates: 6.8098767, 81.8242759.
Tuk-Tuk
Hire a tuk-tuk from your hotel or a nearby tuk-tuk stand in Arugam Bay. It should cost around 500 to 1000 LKR (Sri Lankan Rupees) for a round trip, depending on your negotiation skills. Inform the driver that you want to go to Elephant Rock. They are generally familiar with the location and will drop you off close to the entrance. Make sure to confirm the return fare beforehand.
Public Transportation
While there are no direct buses to Elephant Rock, you can take a bus from Arugam Bay to Pottuvil. The bus fare is approximately 50 LKR. Once you reach Pottuvil, hire a tuk-tuk to take you to Elephant Rock, which should cost around 300-500 LKR. Confirm the fare before starting your journey. The buses operate frequently, but be sure to check the local schedule for the latest timings.
