Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Arugam Bay, start by heading east on the A4 road towards Panama. Continue for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the junction for the B213 road. Turn left onto the B213 and continue for another 3 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards Salambe Lagoon; the lagoon is located just off the road on your right. There is no entry fee to visit Salambe Lagoon, but ensure your vehicle is parked safely along the roadside.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Salambe Lagoon via public transport, take a bus from Arugam Bay to Panama. Buses leave frequently from the main bus stand in Arugam Bay. The fare is usually around 50 LKR. Once you arrive in Panama, which is about a 30-minute ride, you can hire a tuk-tuk for about 200 LKR to take you directly to Salambe Lagoon. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and would like to walk to Salambe Lagoon from Arugam Bay, it’s approximately a 15-kilometer hike. Start by heading south on the A4 road towards Panama. The walk will take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Keep in mind to carry enough water and wear comfortable shoes, as parts of the route may be uneven. Enjoy the scenery along the way as you pass through local villages and farmland.

• Bicycle Rental

  For a more eco-friendly option, consider renting a bicycle in Arugam Bay. Many shops offer bicycle rentals for around 500 LKR per day. Head east on the A4 road towards Panama, and then take the B213 road. The distance is about 12 kilometers and should take about an hour to cycle. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated during your ride.
