Travel Guide to The Secret Beach

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Arugam Bay, head southeast on Main Street (A4) towards Pottuvil. After approximately 4 km, look for a sign indicating 'Secret Beach' on your right. Turn onto the smaller road, which is often unmarked, and follow it for about 1 km until you reach a parking area near the beach. There may be a small fee for parking, usually around 200 LKR.

• Tuk-Tuk

  Tuk-tuks are a popular mode of transport in Arugam Bay. Simply hire one from your location and ask the driver to take you to 'Secret Beach' or 'Pottuvil Beach.' The fare should be around 500-800 LKR, depending on your starting point. The driver will know the way, and you can enjoy the scenic ride.

• Public Bus

  From Arugam Bay, you can catch a local bus to Pottuvil. Buses leave frequently from the main bus stop. The fare is typically around 30-50 LKR. After arriving at the Pottuvil bus station, you can take a short tuk-tuk ride (around 300 LKR) to reach Secret Beach. Alternatively, you can walk from the station to the beach, which is about 2 km away, following the signs towards Pottuvil Beach.

• Walking

  If you're feeling adventurous and enjoy walking, you can trek from Arugam Bay to Secret Beach. The walk is approximately 4-5 km and takes about an hour. Head southeast on Main Street (A4), then turn onto the smaller road leading to Pottuvil Beach. Follow the path until you see signs for Secret Beach. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially in hot weather.
