Getting There

Train
From Bentota, head to the Bentota Railway Station. You can walk there or take a tuk-tuk. From the station, take a train heading towards Colombo. You will need to change trains at the Colombo Fort Railway Station. Once at Colombo Fort, board a train to Matara. The train ride from Bentota to Colombo takes about 1 hour, and from Colombo to Matara takes around 2 hours. Upon reaching Matara, you can take a local bus or a tuk-tuk to Tissamaharama, which is the nearest town to Yala National Park, approximately 30 km away.

Bus
From Bentota, go to the Bentota Bus Station. Look for a bus heading to Galle. The journey will take around 30 minutes. Once you reach Galle, switch to a bus heading to Tissamaharama. This ride will take approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. After arriving in Tissamaharama, you can take a taxi or a tuk-tuk to Yala National Park, which is about 14 km from the town.

Tuk-tuk
If you prefer a direct route, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Bentota to take you to Yala National Park. However, this option can be quite expensive and may take around 4 to 5 hours depending on traffic, as it is about 160 km away. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
