If you are in the Cinnamon Gardens area, start by heading towards Independence Avenue. From the nearest landmark, the Colombo National Museum, exit the museum grounds and turn right onto Albert Crescent. Walk straight until you reach Independence Avenue. Turn left onto Independence Avenue, and continue walking for about 500 meters. You will see the grand Independence Square on your right.

From Colombo Fort Railway Station, take bus number 100 or 101 that goes towards Nugegoda. Get down at the 'Independence Square' bus stop, which is a short walk from the Square. After alighting, walk back along the road for about 200 meters, and you will arrive at Independence Square on your left.
