Public Bus
From Kandy, head to the Kandy Central Bus Stand. Look for buses heading towards Matale; they are frequent and should have a sign indicating their destination. Once on the bus, enjoy the scenic ride for about 30-40 minutes until you reach the Matale Bus Station. After disembarking, head to the main road and look for a local bus or a three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) to take you to Riverston Basecamp. You can ask the driver to take you to 'Madaela, Pitawala' which is the closest area to your destination. The ride might take an additional 20-30 minutes.

From wherever you are in Kandy, simply hail a tuk-tuk and tell the driver you want to go to Riverston Basecamp in Madaela, Pitawala. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The trip usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours as it covers a distance of approximately 30 km, passing through beautiful landscapes.
