Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Nuwara Eliya town, head southeast on the A5 road (Horton Plains Road) and follow the signs towards Moon Plains. After about 4 km, take a left turn onto Ranhawadigama Road. Continue for approximately 2 km, and you will find Moon Plains on your right. Parking is available near the entrance, and there is no parking fee.

• Public Transportation

  From Nuwara Eliya town, you can take a local bus heading towards Horton Plains. Buses leave regularly from the main bus station. Ask the conductor to drop you off at the closest stop to Moon Plains, which is usually near Ranhawadigama Road. From there, it is about a 20-minute walk along Ranhawadigama Road to reach Moon Plains. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return trips back to Nuwara Eliya, as they may vary.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing

  You can also hire a taxi or use a ride-sharing app (if available) to reach Moon Plains directly. This option is convenient, especially if you are traveling in a group or carrying luggage. The fare from Nuwara Eliya town to Moon Plains typically ranges from 1500 to 2000 LKR, depending on the time of day and availability. It's advisable to negotiate the fare beforehand.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy a trek, you can walk from Nuwara Eliya town to Moon Plains. The distance is about 6 km and will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Start by heading southeast towards the A5 road and follow the same route as mentioned for driving, taking care to walk along the sides of the road.
