That mixed-programme approach means the building is used for a wide spectrum of stagecraft and musical styles across the year, with the auditorium, rehearsal spaces and workshop areas arranged to support both touring productions and in-house creations.

The material palette and detailing emphasise a contemporary, late-20th-century civic aesthetic, where sculptural form meets the practical demands of a major performance venue: robust backstage logistics sit behind an accessible and visually assertive public face.
