From the EU-protected stag beetle in oak hollows to vibrant lichens like old oak lichen clinging to trunks, the reserve pulses with specialized flora and fauna. Wetlands around Rosenkällasjön host breeding birds such as laughing gulls and coots, while otters occasionally slip through streams and bats thrive in the twilight hours.

Viking Relics and Cultural Echoes

Beneath the natural splendor lie traces of human history, including ancient field systems, enclosures, burial grounds, and a remarkable 200-meter stone-paved bridge northeast of Tinnerö farm—Sweden's longest Viking-era structure. Once a military training ground in the 20th century, the area now preserves these layers through careful management, blending cultural heritage with ecological restoration, such as the revival of the previously dry Rosenkällasjön wetland.

Strict rules preserve its tranquility: no off-road vehicles, fires only at designated spots, leashed dogs during grazing season from March 1 to November 15, and camping limited to marked shelters. This balance ensures Tinnerö remains a thriving sanctuary for both wildlife and visitors.
