Birdlife is typical of subalpine woodland—chats, tits and the occasional larger species in the surrounding forest—while the shallow edges of the lake support typical mountain-lake flora and lichen communities on the rocks.

Although modest in size, Stensjön’s well-managed paths and footbridges make it accessible to most walkers in reasonable condition; sections of the route may be steep if approached from lower slopes. There are no formal facilities beside basic outdoor infrastructure, so the experience is pleasantly undeveloped and centred on the natural setting. The lake’s compactness makes it a rewarding short excursion or a calm waypoint on longer hikes across Hemfjället.
