Getting There

• Car

  Start your journey in Västerbotten by heading south on the E4 highway. Continue on the E4 for about 80 kilometers until you reach the town of Munkedal. Take the exit toward Munkedal/Smögen (Route 172). From Munkedal, follow Route 172 for approximately 25 kilometers until you arrive in Smögen. Once in Smögen, follow the signs to the harbor area. There is a parking lot available near the harbor for a small fee (approximately 20 SEK per hour). After parking, head to the ferry terminal where you will find boats that take you to Hållö island.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take a train from Umeå or other locations in Västerbotten to Munkedal. Once you arrive at Munkedal station, you can catch a local bus to Smögen, which runs regularly. Upon reaching Smögen, walk to the harbor where you can find the ferry terminal. The ferry ride to Hållö island costs around 100 SEK for a round trip. Check the ferry schedule in advance to ensure you have ample time to explore the lighthouse.

• Ferry

  Once you are at the Smögen harbor, purchase a ticket for the ferry to Hållö, which departs several times a day. The ferry ride lasts approximately 20 minutes and offers beautiful views of the coastline. Be sure to check the current schedule at the ferry terminal or online at the ferry service's website to plan your visit effectively.
