Car
From the center of Appenzell, take the main road (Landsgemeindeplatz) heading south. Follow signs for Route 5 towards St. Gallen. After about 5 km, take the exit towards Nesslau-Krummenau (9651). Continue on this road for approximately 10 km until you reach Nesslau-Krummenau. Look for signs to Ofenloch, which is located near the hiking trails in the area. Please note that parking may be limited, so plan accordingly.

Public Transportation
Start at Appenzell train station. Take the local train towards Nesslau-Krummenau, which you can catch roughly every hour. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Nesslau-Krummenau station, exit the station and follow the signs for local bus services. Board the bus that heads towards Ofenloch (make sure to check the schedule as buses may not run frequently). The bus ride to the Ofenloch trailhead will take another 15-20 minutes. Be aware of the return schedule to avoid being stranded.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can hike from Nesslau-Krummenau to Ofenloch. From the Nesslau-Krummenau train station, head east on the main road, then follow the marked hiking trails. The hike is approximately 5 km and will take about 1.5-2 hours, depending on your pace. This is a more scenic route, but ensure you have appropriate hiking gear and check the weather beforehand.
