Getting There

• Bus

  From Ascona, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is the Ascona, Posta stop. Board the bus heading towards Locarno. After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the Locarno train station. From there, take the regional train towards Como. Ensure to check the train schedule for timings. After about 40 minutes, you will arrive at the Laglio station. Once you exit the station, Monte Colmegnone is about a 30-minute walk from the station. Head south on Via Roma, then turn left onto Via per Laglio, and follow the signs towards Monte Colmegnone.

• Train

  Starting from Ascona, walk to the Ascona, Posta bus stop and take a bus to Locarno train station. Once at the station, board a train heading towards Como. After getting off at the Laglio train station, exit the station and walk south on Via Roma. Continue straight until you reach Via per Laglio, then follow the signs leading you to Monte Colmegnone, which is approximately a 30-minute hike from the station.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Ascona. Start at the main square in Ascona and head towards the lakeside path. Follow the path alongside Lake Maggiore until you reach the town of Locarno. From Locarno, follow the signs to Laglio. The ride may take about an hour or more depending on your pace. Once in Laglio, park your bike and begin your hike towards Monte Colmegnone, which is about a 30-minute walk from the center of Laglio.

• Walking

  If you enjoy walking, you can take a scenic route from Ascona towards Laglio. Begin at the lakeshore promenade in Ascona and follow the footpath along the lake towards Locarno. This route will take you through beautiful landscapes and may take several hours. Once you reach Locarno, head to the bus station and take a bus to Laglio. From Laglio, Monte Colmegnone is about a 30-minute hike; follow the signs from the town center.
