Getting There

• Car

  From Emmental, set your GPS to Chillon Castle's address: Av. de Chillon 21, 1820 Veytaux. The most direct route is to take the A6 highway towards Lausanne. Continue on A6 for approximately 50 km, then take the exit towards Montreux/Chillon. Follow the signs to Chillon Castle, which is located on the shores of Lake Geneva. There is a parking area available near the castle, but be prepared for parking fees that may range from CHF 1.50 to CHF 2.50 per hour.

• Train and Bus

  Start by taking a train from Emmental to Montreux. You can catch a train from the nearest station to you, which may require a transfer in Bern or Lausanne. Once you arrive in Montreux, exit the train station and look for local buses heading towards Veytaux or Chillon Castle. The bus ride is approximately 10 minutes. Make sure to purchase a ticket for the bus, which may cost around CHF 3.00. The bus will drop you off just a short walk from the castle entrance.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, consider cycling from Emmental to Chillon Castle. The route is approximately 50 km and will take you through beautiful Swiss landscapes. You can follow the designated bike paths towards Montreux and then to Veytaux. Ensure your bike is equipped for longer distances and carry water and snacks. Note that there may not be bike rental services available directly in Emmental, so plan accordingly.

• Walking

  Walking to Chillon Castle from Emmental is not practical due to the distance of approximately 50 km, but if you are already in Montreux or Veytaux, you can easily walk to the castle from these locations. The walk from Montreux to Chillon Castle along the lakeside promenade is scenic and takes about 30 minutes.
