Train
From Thun railway station, purchase a ticket to Gruyères. Board the train heading towards Montbovon. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and involves a scenic view of the Swiss countryside. Disembark at the Gruyères station, which is a short walk from the village. Follow the signs towards Gruyères, and you will arrive at the entrance of the village and the famous Gruyères Castle.
Bus
At Thun bus station, take the bus line towards Bulle. Ensure to check the schedule for service times. Ride the bus for about 40 minutes until you reach the Gruyères bus stop. From the bus stop, follow the signs that direct you to Gruyères village, which is about a 10-minute walk uphill.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Thun. Follow the bike path leading towards Gruyères. The route is approximately 30 km and will take about 2 hours. You will cycle through beautiful landscapes, passing small villages, and eventually arrive at Gruyères. Once you reach the village, park your bike at the designated bike parking area.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from Thun to Gruyères. The distance is roughly 30 km and will take about 6-7 hours. Head out of Thun towards the Aare River and follow the riverside path until you reach the outskirts of the village of Wichtrach. From there, continue on the marked hiking trails through the countryside, enjoying the stunning views of the Alps along the way. Eventually, you will arrive in Gruyères.
