Getting There

  • Train

    From Thun, head to the Thun train station (Bahnhof Thun), which is located in the city center. You can walk there from most hotels or tourist spots. Once at the station, purchase a ticket to Kandersteg. Trains to Kandersteg are typically every hour, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Kandersteg station, exit the train and follow the signs for the Oeschinensee cable car station, which is about a 20-minute walk from the train station.

  • Bus

    From Thun, take the bus No. 21 from the Thun bus terminal (which is right next to the train station) heading towards Kandersteg. The bus ride takes approximately 50 minutes. Get off at the Kandersteg Post stop. From there, you can either walk or take the Oeschinensee cable car (which is a short walk from the bus stop) to reach the viewpoint.

  • Hiking

    If you're feeling adventurous and would like to hike, you can take the train to Kandersteg and then hike to Oeschinensee. From Kandersteg train station, follow the signs to the Oeschinensee trail. The hike is about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water and snacks.
