If you are starting from Zurich, take a train from Zurich Hauptbahnhof (Main Station) to Lucerne (Luzern). Trains run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Lucerne train station, exit the station and head towards the lake. Follow the signs for 'Luzern Stadt' or 'Lake Lucerne'. Walk straight towards the lakeside promenade.

From Zurich, you can also take a bus to Lucerne. At Zurich central bus station (Zürich Sihlquai), find a bus heading to Lucerne. The bus ride takes about 1 hour. After arriving at Lucerne bus station, exit and follow the signs towards the lake. Head straight until you reach the lakeside promenade.

Walking
Once you are at the lakeside promenade in Lucerne, turn left and walk along the Reuss River towards the Reusssteg. It will take you about 10 minutes to reach the Lucerne Needle Dam (Reusswehr). Enjoy the scenic views of the lake and mountains on your walk.

An alternative approach is to take a boat from Zurich to Lucerne. Board a boat at Zurich's lakefront. The boat ride offers stunning views and takes about 2 hours to reach Lucerne. Once you arrive at the Lucerne boat dock, walk straight towards the city center and head to the Reuss River, which will lead you to the Lucerne Needle Dam (Reusswehr).
